I'm interested in reading this module, but so far the price has been prohibitively expensive. I haven't found a copy of the original for less than $100. Does anyone know if I'm just looking the wrong places, or is the th thing just that rare?
Also, if I'm desperate, how good is the Necromancer Games version? Will it serve in a pinch, or am I better off making some sort of vile pact with a demon of the pit to gain the original version?
Hi Evan. I see it on eBay for 65 dollars, but I don't know it that's the same one you mean. I copied and pasted below.

That's the Necromancer Games version, which can be bought in PDF format for much cheaper, but I do think it's a good rate for the hard copy.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, Okay. Wow, a 100 bucks. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteLet me check my stash tonight. I may have a copy for you. No promises!
ReplyDeleteI got a second copy in, let us say, less than ideal condition. If you've got something ridiculous and/or stupid to swap maybe we can set up a trade. Email me at jrients gmail, etc.
ReplyDeleteI found the Necromancer Games version useful to have in play (the maps are substantially clearer) but a lot less inspirational to read than the Judges Guild original; too much is filled in for my taste and often in directions that didn't suit my vision. Are you looking for print, or would PDF do?
ReplyDeleteI wrote an add-on module for the Caverns in Fight On! #9, and also posted some advice for running it at Dragonsfoot - which I am confident you'll want to do, as it is truly an excellent adventure.

ReplyDeleteI'd prefer to have the original then, though, again I could probably deal with a filled in 3e dungeon if the map is still non-linear and the premise the same.
My goal is to possibly attach it to the Underworld, if the poll shows that people are interested in Underworld material.
It's too bad Caverns of Thracia has become so expensive and hard to find, because it's a great module. Maybe you could ask for help finding a copy on the Judge's Guild Collectors' Forum at The Acaeum. I've gotten a lot of help finding rare knowledge and material at The Acaeum.

ReplyDeleteAlso, that Dragonsfoot thread is great. Makes me want the thing even more.

Thanks for the heads up, but the damn forum won't let me register with my gmail account. Such is life.
...how good is the Necromancer Games version?
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know this too.
I checked and I don't have Caverns - it is Tegel Manor that I was thinking of. Sorry about that.
